Summer Program
|
Current state law and regulation call for public school districts to provide extended year programming for special education students who are at risk for substantial regression during the ten week summer recess. This requirement forms the basis for the CASE Summer Program. The CASE Summer Program services the collaborative’s regular student population, as well as a number of students who do not attend CASE classes during the winter months. The program offers a 5 1/2 hour school day and runs for five weeks. It should be noted that the CASE Summer Program represents only one service option for students who need extended year programming. It cannot be all things for all children, and may not be the right choice for every special needs student. Parents and school department representatives are advised to consider the appropriateness of the CASE Summer Program for their particular child before making a decision regarding application for enrollment.
