Alcott Elementary School
Library

The Alcott Elementary School
Library provides service to 465 students in Kindergarten through Grade
5, and a school staff of 86. Our library contains periodicals, audiovisual
equipment and materials, CD-Roms, and approximately 17,000 books. During
the 2000-2001 school year 25,000 items were circulated. We have 5 computers
in the library. Our goals are to instill a love of books and reading by
providing a wide range of quality children's literature, to provide library
materials that support and enrich classroom curriculum units, and to introduce
students to the library and research skills they will need to locate and
evaluate information throughout their lives.
The Alcott Library is staffed
by Mrs. Sandra Peirce, Library Instructor and Ms.
Penny Staples our Library Aide, along with a dedicated group of parent
volunteers.
