Ralph Waldo Emerson: His Writing Career
Ralph Emerson is one of the greatest writers in our history. He has given many lectures, wrote many books, poems and essays that have inspired many people. Emerson settled down in the town of Concord Massachusetts, where he began writing. As Emerson became know to the public as a great writer people came to his home to discus religion, philosophy, and literature of the world. The group of people slowly grew into a club know as the Transcendental Club. These people encluded many other famous authors, such as Hawthrone, Holmes, and Thoreau. They published a large essay that was written by Emerson. The essay gave there views on many things, it was there statement of belief, it showed the organization of nature and how it held spiritual truths. This essay was called Nature. In 1941 Emerson first became known to all when he published a group of works entitled Essays . This was a group of lectures and essays that he had written. Many of these came from his daily journal. Emerson published many more books and essays. They include Representative Man, English Traits, The conduct of Life, and Essays The Second Volume. In many of his works Emerson looked at society and how people react. This was the case in English Traits, he took the English society and compared it to the American way of life. Emerson also wrote great numbers of poems. These were published in Poems and May-Day and Other Pieces. The Poems were well liked by all. Emerson had a great influence over many other writers. To this day he still influence the writing of all. His ideas were so powerful then and they still are now.
